Editorial 3(1)

Welcome to the first issue of 'Queensland Researcher' for 1987. We start the year with a lead article by Don Brewster focussing on the tertiary selection debate, a topic which reflects the general theme of the Institute's 1986 lectures/symposia. Plans are well underway for this year's program with commitments from George Berkeley, Malcolm Skilbeck, Mike Middleton and Barry McGaw to give papers at Institute meetings. The first, The J.A. Robinson Memorial Lecture will be presented in March by the recently retired Queensland Director General of Education, Mr George BerkeIey. A brief summary of highlights of Mr Berkeley's distinguished career follows later in this issue.

The Editorial Panel again urges readers to contribute articles for the Journal. We would be pleased to be able to publish more articles and items emanating from the broad range of institutions engaged in educational research: Universities, Colleges of Advanced Education, Schools, TAFE Colleges, etc. Book and Computer reviews are always welcome. Communication of your ideas, findings and/or recommendations is a key element of any research exercise. A ready-made forum for your writings on a past, current or proposed research activity is available through the 'Queensland Researcher'. We urge you to make the most of your Journal in 1987.
